a three-year starting linebacker at Goodpasture, Gillaspie collected a
school-record 436 career tackles. In those three years, he led
Goodpasture to three straight Tennessee Class 2A state runner-up
finishes and a 38-7 overall record ... coached by David Martin.
- Gillaspie
is a two-time All-Region 5-2A honoree and two-time team defensive most
valuable player. As a senior, Gillaspie had 188 tackles, including 149
solos, the second-highest total in the state. He once had 29 tackles,
21 solo, in one game. Gillaspie added 505 rushing yards on 86 carries
and seven touchdowns as a tailback.
- As
a junior, Gillaspie ranked seventh in the state with 119 solo tackles,
and as a sophomore, he led the team with 97 total stops.
